TCI Telecommunications Commission Director General Kenva Williams facilitated and chaired a committee consisting of the Commission, Flow, Digicel, DDME, and industry specialist, Cenerva, to establish a Telecommunications Emergency Preparedness and Response Policy (TEPRP ) for the Turk and Caicos Islands, if not the region. The initiative was birthed following the devastation from hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, which resulted in a major disruption to the telecommunications services through the islands.

This is the first policy of its kind created in the region and is yet to be tested. The objective is to test the policy then introduce it regionally.

The policy is featured in CANTO’s article and will be the topic of a webinar hosted by CANTO on Tuesday 29th March 2022 at 10:00 am AST. It’s open to all, and more information can be found on the CANTO website.
