The Turks and Caicos Telecommunications Commission has consulted on, and now approved, Decision 2021-9, a new Telecommunications Emergency Preparedness and Response Policy. This will help ensure the resilience and security of the Islands’ telecoms networks during emergencies. This policy was developed following complaints of anti-competitive behaviour during the 2017 hurricanes. The Commission is now working with operators to create an agreement to enable customers of each operator to use the network and facilities of the other operator where necessary in order to connect emergency calls during times of emergency.
